11:00-12:00 Arrival in Rubezhevichi – a place known since the XIII-XIV centuries. During the INCL period in the XVI century, the border of the principality passed not far from this place – from Brest through Minsk, Novogrudok to Dvina and Pskov possessions. Hence the name – “frontier”. Later, another border, the Polish-Soviet one, lay next to the Rubezhevichi, which remained until 1939. Currently, the agricultural town of Rubezhevichi is rich in man-made historical monuments: This is the Jewish Cemetery, restored by students of Siena College (New York State, USA) under the leadership of Dr. Michael Lozman in 2008, and the burial of victims of the Nazi invaders (360 Jews were taken to the forest belt and brutally murdered) – “Shlyakh smutku”. Also widely known is the local pharmacy, which specializes in herbal collections. This is a family business that has been around for generations.

The Church of St. Joseph is the fulfilled dream of the philistine Anthony Tour. In the XIX century, he dreamed of erecting a church in Rubezhevichi at all costs: he visited the tsar in St. Petersburg three times and asked for a construction permit. Without receiving approval, he installed a stone on one of the hills with the words that a temple would be built here. For such an outburst, Anthony and his family were exiled to Siberia for 7 years. He returned already with a construction permit, the magnificent and majestic result of which you will see during the tour. And the “stone of the Tour” still lies at the main entrance to the St. Joseph’s Church, reminding of the events of antiquity.
